New Robe Design

IIUM new robe design
This is the robe design for the convocation starting this year 2008. For more information, please check IIUM Convocation website.

I like the new hood design rather than the stripes on the sleeve. I’m glad that KAED hood colour is my favourite colour too. I have another year to go. So let’s work hard and aim for the best. InsyaAllah.

P/S – I think UIA should have inform latest news about UIA to students first before release it to the media.

    adeih, pink.

any idea why some people got 1 stripe on the sleeve, some got two and some got three? is it according to the type of graduating students? i.e. undergrad=1 stripe, masters=2 stripes and so forth.

As SRC 07/08 received many responses from IIUM community, we will collect signatures of students and staff regarding this changes to our convo attire. Do they agree or not on changes from songkok to mortarboard? Yes, we also think that the offices should give notification for students first before releasing it to the media. If you have opinions and comments, plz send it to src@iiu.edu.my. Thank you..

As you can see from the convo website, 1 stripe for bachelor degree, 2 stripes for master, 3 stripes for Phd.

oh…I prefer stripe/s on the sleeve. Lagi cantik lebih2 lagi mase beratur nak masuk CAC..hmm..miss my graduation day lar =p

emm, i prefer the old robe. dengan brothers wearing songkok, n sisters letak stripe bunge2 kat kpala. sebab we can distinguish ourselves from other univ yg mane univ2 lain sume pakai mortar board. wow, betapa cantiknya convo UIA. syukur sgt2 sebab i was among the last batch (last yer) yg pkai robe lama tu. hehehehehe

saya bersetuju dan menyokomg sepenuhnya songkok ditukarkan kepada mortar kerana saya memang mengidamkan memakai mortar tu…hehehe… tapi cuma bajunya nampak kurang lawa…design dia tak cantikk… cam ne nak konvo ni… design yang sebelum ni lagi lawa tapi warna biru ni lagi cun laa…wawa

Salam… for me, I prefer songkok than mortarboard. It’s bcoz…

    1. the budget to change the tradition requires a big sum of money = RM 2.1 million. Think a while, in Kuantan, brothers from 2nd year to 3rd year need to be relocated outside the campus because of the unavailability of mahallah inside the campus.

2.I think wearing songkok is better than mortarboard because it make us different from other university. We have our own identity by wearing this songkok in big events such as convocation event.

    3. The authorities never asked us before they decide to change anything regarding the students’ affair. It is us who want to graduate, not them. At least, make some surveys first before doing any changes regarding students affairs.

releks la romzi…hang pink…aku bright pink klu ikut website uia…haa…

    Anyway:

    - Maybe uia should stick to the songkok instead of the mortarboard. What’s wrong with wearing songkok? Takkan sebab certain quarters give a little bit of pressure on unity and multiracial issues; iium dah give up on its own so called unique identity?sebab ni ka?haa..ese taktau. tapi maybe the university should have involved the students with its decision making or at least inform the students on the rational behind the changes. Then, there would be no misunderstanding and guessing games…

    - Hmmm..why is it so difficult for the university to appreciate the students (especially the coming graduating students) and inform them first of the new robe design instead of releasing it to the media…?

    - Sekali tengok, hmm..lawa…dua kali tengok…aiseymannn..

    - SRC collect signature? hmm…ape kata collect signature students yg nak konvo next week ni?klu betul la nak collect signature kan.

    - Anyway, i’m glad finally dah nak konvo. At the same time, i’m hoping and praying that the current IIUM Kuantan students will always keep their chin up and stay strong as ever. They should be proud because even without the basic facilities badly needed in the campus, they can still give excellent results in their studies.

seriously, i was so looking forward for my convocation, even though it’s only for my masters. my degree’s convocation ceremony was nothing to shout about. maybe i’m old and cynical, but i still prefer wearing tudung with the stripes on it, since it’s unique IIUM identity.
